Married At Last

Dear Mom and Dad,

Phu and I married this month on the beaches of Maui. I’m sad that you were not there, I know your spirits were smiling down on us.

Dad, I know what you’re thinking – we’d never get married after dating over 10 years, and living halfway across the nation. Something magical happened. Phu returned to Minnesota to continue his research on the hypothalamus at the University of Minnesota and things fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. Dad, to assure you and me, we attended several interfaith classes. I promised Phu we’d continue the Friday night Shabbat dinners just like we did as a family. I’d make homemade Challah, just like you made Mom. Mmm. I can smell the fresh bread now. Although Phu and I come from different backgrounds, the counselor said that we scored exceptionally high in many important areas, most notably communication and values which will help guide us through tough times. So far, we’re very content. More tomorrow.
Love Debbie
